About this TrailThe trail follows a rolling ridge that sort of parallels the Reading and Northern Railroad from afar. The route is one way but it is possible to make it into a loop trail first at the intersection with Hickory Run Trail (41.00.643.N, 075.43.957W) and then at the intersection with Skyline Trail (41.00.935N, 075.43.288W). Otherwise the trail comes to an end and intersects with Pine Hill Trail which is not as interesting of a trail that leads to a different segment of the SR 534, approximately 3-4 miles from the Fireline Trailhead.
Directions to Trailhead (or put-in on water trails)From Route 80 take exit 274 (Hickory Run) and follow SR 534 eastbound for approximatel 5 miles. The parking lot for the trailhead is on the left immediately after entering park. Parking is limited but both sides of 534 can be utlized in the event of congestion.
From the Pennsylvania Turnpike take exit 95 and follow SR 940 to the intersection with SR 534. Follow 534 eastbound for approximately 7 miles. The parking lot for the trailhead is on the left immediately after entering park.
The park is approximately a 2 hour drive from Philadelphia or New York City.
Notes on Difficulty RatingThe trail is wide and easy to follow and is formerly a road. As described the trail rolls along a ridge so there are segments of climbing involved but nothing extremely strenuous. There are some stream crossing and difficulty of crossing depends of waterflow conditions.
