About this TrailThis trail follows the northern shore of Lake Higgins, and is one of the Greensboro Watershed Trails. Depending on when you hike it, there are great views of nature in all her stages from this trail. One trailhead starts at the lake's marina and then follows around to offer the chance to see many varieties of birds, waterfowl, and the occasional eagle. Maintained by the Greensboro Fat Tire society, it is designed for both hikers and mountian bikers. There are sections that make use of boardwalks to avoid some of the more environmentally sensitive areas, so please use them when they're there.
Directions to Trailhead (or put-in on water trails)The Bald Eagle Trailheads are located on Hamburg Mill Road just west of the entrance to Lake Higgins Marina and on Long Valley Road. Parking is available in the small parking lot at the Hamburg Mill Road trailhead and along the road on Brass Eagle Loop near the Long Valley Road trailhead.
Notes on Difficulty RatingOverall, a fairly easy hike, but following rains, it can be very muddy.
